My favourite bits...

Duties are ours, but events are the Lord's.

Sorrow, loss, sadness, death, are the worst of things that are, except sin.

It is neither shame nor pride for a drowning man to swim to a rock.

Heaven is no dream.

Heaven is here and now, always was, always will be. Hell too, I suppose, but it does not have a grip on this soul, no, no, no. I simply have learned a great deal from thinkers of all religions, but realize they were created by man; mainly to keep the populace under control by instilling fear of the unknown. Sheep are much easier to herd than free spirits.

However, I do believe there has to be a higher power so I do take Baba Ram Dass's advice given in one of his infamous quotes:

"Greet everyone you meet like God in drag!" ;)

Interesting. Why do you believe there has to be a higher power?

Semantics my dear rose, I suppose what I mean is she/he that understands a simple blade of grass, knows all. I'm awed by whatever created this universe as we know it. Can't explain it. But I'll be damned if I should pretend to understand the 'nameless.' Although, globally, in any language, there is a word representing it, in english we say 'god.' I won't take man's word for it though. I'll simply believe that I'm a flicker of whatever 'it' is. I'm chagrined when I hear the creator referred to as 'he' or 'him' even 'she' or 'her' in some religious circles. What absolute tripe!

Believe in yourself, Rose; that's all you really have. Until you shed your body. See you on the otherside, I'll be the one without a body, too.

Neil

How can you be so sure that anything created this universe? And if there is a creator, how can you be so sure the creator is nameless? Why should you be chagrined to hear me say that the only true God is the God and Father of the Lord Jesus Christ, and yet presume to speak of a nameless creator, whom we cannot know?

Just curious

Matthew
